Quercetin is a pigment that belongs to a group of plant compounds called flavonoids. Quercetin is a powerful antioxidant found in nature. Its antioxidant capacity is 50 times that of vitamin E and 20 times that of vitamin C.

Quercetin has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects that might help reduce swelling, kill cancer cells, control blood sugar, and help prevent heart disease.  Quercetin also has a wide range of antifibrotic effect.

Quercetin has good expectorant, cough, and asthmatic effect, long-term used in the treatment of chronic bronchitis. The effects of quercetin on respiratory health are realized through mucus secretion, antiviral, anti-fibrosis, anti-inflammatory and other pathways.

Quercetin is most commonly used for conditions of the heart and blood vessels and to prevent cancer.  It is also used for arthritis, bladder infections, and diabetes, but there is no strong scientific evidence to support most of these uses.

It's one of the most abundant antioxidants in the diet and plays an important role in helping your body combat free radical damage, which is linked to chronic diseases.

Quercetin is the most abundant flavonoid in the diet. It's estimated that the average person consumes 10–100 mg of it daily through various food sources.

Foods that commonly contain quercetin include onions, apples, grapes, berries, broccoli, citrus fruits, cherries, green tea, coffee, red wine, and capers.

If you can't absorb quercetin properly from food, you can take extra supplements.  It's also available as a dietary supplement in powder / gummy and capsule form.
